About apace

apace is a Pune-based brand specializing in performance apparel for Endurance Sports. apace has been set up by Mihir Divekar, a tennis player and coach and Aditya Kelkar, a runner and cyclist.

The inspiration for apace came about from a need for high quality sports apparel. apace came about with an aim to provide sports apparel which not only was reasonably priced, but also offered the same high quality, and rich feel as the international brands.

The most important factor in sports apparel is the moisture management capability of the fabric used. Typically, cotton retains moisture, becomes heavy, and uncomfortable over a couple of hours of play/activity. In contrast, polyester drift material does not retain moisture, and quickly wicks it away so that the fabric never becomes heavy and uncomfortable. In addition, it also provides a cooling effect due to the quick sweat evaporation. Hence, apace uses polyester based fabrics such as 100% polyester, polyester-spandex etc in a variety of knits which aim at keeping the athlete as comfortable as possible. In addition to the fabric choice, the quality of stitching is also paid attention to, so that it does not cause any chafing on the skin.

Product design is done completely in-house - from pattern making to print design. A rigorous product development process is followed, with prototyping, pre-production runs, and on-field testing to vet out the product. The resulting product can be used with confidence for the intended activity.

apace offers apparel for running, cycling and triathlon. From basic round-neck t-shirts, to gel padded cycling shorts, and triathlon jerseys, apace offers a range of products to suit various requirements. Newer products get added on a regular basis.
