Annam Vegetable Producers Company Ltd

We wish to submit that, farmers of Pollachi North, South, Anaimalai and Thondamuthur areas have been grouped as Farmers Interest Groups (FIGs), each with around 15–20 farmers, and 40 to 50 such FIGs are federated into a Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) - the basic unit of the project “ANNAM” with about 1000 farmers. In order to sustain the vegetable production, its productivity and achieve sustainability in Coimbatore district vegetable areas the ICAR- Krishi Vigyan Kendra has worked with and initially integrated 1000 farmers covering 48 villages in an area of 1612 acres into a producer company known as “Annam Vegetable Producers Company Ltd”
Annam Vegetable Producers Company Ltd is registered under the company act. Members of the Annam Vegetable Producers Company Ltd are not only aware of the overall objectives and their role and also strongly motivated to contribute towards the growth of their company with a prime objective of satisfying the consumers of the district with their produces. They participate in field visits, meetings and other activities of the Company. Members also show keen interest in participating in the Company activities for creating resources for production and direct marketing infrastructure. Producing pesticide residue free and nutritionally rich vegetables has thus become the main aim for protecting Coimbatore district consumer’s interest. Of course sale of these vegetables out of state and the country is also initiated and will be carried out in large scale in future.
The company has the following objectives:
1) Reduce the production cost of vegetables in a cluster to enable the sale at a reasonable price
2) Promote the use of modern agricultural practices and Agri-infrastructure services such as shade nets and sprinklers for improving the quality of vegetables
3) Production of nutritionally optimal and pesticide free vegetables
4) Promote direct market linkage for Agri-input and service procurement as well as output marketing (Vegetable marketing direct to consumers)
5) Primary value addition at the farm level and setting-up processing facilities (including grading and packing)
6) Promotion of eco-friendly farming and use of only organic and eco-friendly Agri inputs
We sincerely submit that, we take fullest possible responsibilities to ensure production of quality vegetables at our farm level. We further, we ensure the supply chain by way of adopting appropriate handling, transporting and supplying to the consumers. Hence the idea thus becomes the supply of nutritionally optimal and pesticide free vegetables and other Agri commodities directly to the consumers at a very reasonable price.
