India's rapid economic growth and industrial development has marked the country as an emerging world power. Our advancement as a country is a testament to a globalizing world and shifting global dynamics.
However, as we race forward into the 21st century and accumulate wealth and influence on the world stage, the situation within our borders is fragile. India’s development is a story of success for thousands, but a story of neglect for millions more. Entire swaths of our population are being left behind with few resources for individual survival, let alone personal gain. Old issues such as caste, gender and religious divide only deepen the vast class divide born out of the push for quick economic growth. The economic boom, while bringing success and wealth to some, has created a situation where there is rampant abuse of human rights and little investment in human rights education.
India has a long history of democracy and a constitutional commitment to equal rights for all. Our mission is to uphold India’s democratic principles and constitution to create a society that recognizes the value of human rights, and their vital role in India’s greater development story.
