How do we make preventive health care accessible?
We conduct annual medical check-ups (inclusive of Vision, Dental, BMI Hearing, Obesity and physical examination) at school premises. This saves time for the students and ensures that it does not interrupt their studies .

Recent studies suggest that more than 80% of parents do not provide for preventive health check-up of their children for reasons such as lack of awareness, time constraints, etc. We make it easy by bringing it to your school.
After medical check-up, we provide descriptive report for individual students. This helps parents in understanding health of their child .

Details of screening Activities

1.Vision screening
Good vision is very important for your child who is learning and growing. Visual problems should therefore be corrected early so that these will not hinder your child's learning ability. School children are screened for myopia (shortsightedness) every year. Your child will be required to read off a chart, from a pre-determined distance to check his eyesight. If the results show that your child may be shortsighted, he will be referred to see an optometrist.
Let us be responsible elders by providing them regular preventive vision care
A child who cannot see well starts studies at disadvantage
Delay in treating conditions such as lazy eye syndrome, strabismus etc., could have lifelong deterioration in the quality of vision
Knowledge of vision defects helps the choice of profession in the future e.g. those with colour vision deficiency are better off not opting for certain vocations/careers
80 % of the information required to enable one to carry out one's daily work comes through the eyes

3D Vision screening
This test is done to find out if your child has normal three dimensional (3D) vision. Special patterned plates are shown to him. If he is unable to pick out the right images, he may be suffering from a squint or other eye conditions.
2. GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT ASSESMENT
The height and weight of the child will be checked to see if he is growing well. Growth charts are used to compare his height and weight with the standard , If his growth rate is not within the normal range, he will be referred to concerned doctor for further assessment.
Through this, we can monitor the physical growth and normal development of the child.

3. Dental check up
Comprehensive dental check- up is done to trace tooth cavity and other teeth and gums problems at early stage to prevent teeth from damage.
The main reason for going to the dentist regularly every 6 months is prevention. The goal is to prevent tooth decay, gum disease, and other disorders that put the health of teeth and mouth at risk. During our busy schedule, it is very difficult to visit a dentist until our child complaint of a pain (and usually it is too late when that happens). This is the reason, we do a thorough dental examination of school children at their school.
We examine student's teeth, gums, and other mouth tissues along with the joints of their jaws. The dentist will use a mirror and probe (a metal pick-like instrument) to check the crown (visible part) of each tooth for plaque and evidence of looseness or decay. The dentist also will check bite and the way teeth fit together (called occlusion).
Dentist will examine the general condition of gums, which should be firm and pink, not soft, swollen, or inflamed. Dentist will use the probe to check the depth of the sulcus, the slight depression where each tooth meets the gum. Deep depressions, called pockets, are evidence of gum disease.

4. GENERAL MEDICAL CHECK-UP BY DOCTOR
Health conditions checked by the doctor include:
Heart defects
Slow growth
Squint (and other eye conditions)
Other developmental problems
5. BMI
We use BMI as a measure of classification to get an idea about kid's activity status and growth trend. We measure their weight in Kg with help of a weighing scale and use their height in cm using an imported medical height measuring scale. We use this data to find out their BMI and then use WHO charts for children to find out their percentile standing within kids of their age, gender and height.

What is BMI Index
Body mass index is defined as the individual's body weight (in Kg) divided by the square of his or her height (in cm). BMI provides a simple numeric measure of a person's "fatness" or "thinness", allowing health professionals to discuss over- and under-weight problems more objectively with their patients. However, BMI has become controversial because many people, including physicians, have come to rely on its apparent numerical authority for medical diagnosis, but that was never the BMI's purpose; it is meant to be used as a simple means of classifying sedentary (physically inactive) individuals with an average body composition .
