Mental hospital Pabna is the first of its kind in Bangladesh set up in 1957. Initially it was established in a leased land. In 1959 it was shifted to its present place at Hemayetpur 8 kilometers from the district town. The hospital started with the number of bed of 60 which subsequently was raised to 500. The hospital has 500 posts of staff and more than a dozens of doctors.
