Water and Land Management Institute (WALMI) is a premiere State Training Institute to impart multi-disciplinary training in the field of Irrigated agriculture.
WALMI-Gujarat has been established in the year 1980-81 at Anand, in Kheda district with the World Bank financial support under direct control of the Area Development Commissioner, Ahmedabad. The WALMI was shifted from Anand to Gandhinagar in year 1983. During 1983-84, it became a participant of USAID assisted "Water Resources Management and Training Programmes". Since 1985, WALMI has been working as an autonomous body under "Gujarat Irrigation Management Society (GIMS) ".The GIMS is registered under Co-operative Societies Registration Act, 1860.Since May,1990 with the completion of construction of new campus of the Institute, it has shifted its function to this new campus located near Anand at Anand-Vadod Road.
