WADe Asia is Asia's 1st platform for celebrating Women-led Development in Architecture, Art & Design! WADe is about documenting the progression of Women in Design. It is also about a common ground for women in creative pursuits to meet, network, learn and share. With the coming together of 6 countries, WADe Asia and WADe India's annual mega event took place from 28-29 October 2017 at Hotel Leela Ambience, Gurgaon. It is the coming together of Art, Architecture, and Design for discussions, along with celebration of Work done by women architects, interior designers and artists. It had presence of India's who's who in architecture, art and design.

WADe Asia is Asia's 1st platform for celebrating Women-led Development in Architecture, Art & Design! WADe is about documenting the progression of Women in Design. It is also about a common ground for women in creative pursuits to meet, network, learn and share.

It all started in 2016 with launch of WADe India: a platform to Celebrate & Spread 'Women-led development" of India by bringing women in architecture, art & interior design in a common platform to exchange ideas, recognize contribution, and discuss issues.

WADe India is not about putting women in a separate box. WADe believes in showcasing possibilities and connect aspiring ones with the mentors - a celebration, and progression of women in design. It is about coming of industry together to celebrate work of women, irrespective of gender.

From 2017, the annual event is called WADe Asia. WADe is extending to touch the work & life of sisters in design from SAARC countries as well as some South East Asian countries.

WADe was successfully launched on 14 May 2016 at The Leela Ambience Gurgaon with the aim to recognize the Role Models and Emerging Young designers leading the women-led development in the field of architecture, art and design. One of the major aims of WADe India is to “Connect the Leading with the Aspiring ones.” WADe is ensuring more visibility of women-led projects.

WADe Asia: Contributing in following areas

* Documenting the work done by past women architects and designers of India

* Spreading the work of Women Architects & Designers of India.

* Aim was to create a set of 'Role Models' for the younger and aspiring ones to follows & learn. It is wonderful to have done that with the launch of WADe India on 14th May. WADe has felicitated the nominated Role Models. The partner magazine Surfaces Reporter has covered their profiles and the selected Roles they have taken up for supporting the above objectives of WADe India.

* Role models have a lot of roles to play for this platform. WADe India will be connecting the Role Models with the upcoming ones by the use of technology and through events. WADe India event on 14th May 2016 at Gurgaon already started the initiative and was a huge success. 2017 is seeing the coming of mentoring sessions like "Masterclass with Mentors".

* Opening up to more women & men to join the initiatives at various levels. WADe is not about excluding Men or putting Women in a separate box. It is about putting the spotlight on Women because WADe believes that women have the potential to do better and a platform to connect them is essential.

* Understanding roles of WADe India through discussion & research and thereby implementing programs throughout the year.

* Encouraging entrepreneurship among women architects & designers through the partners and associates. This will be further elaborated through our portal www.wadeindia.com

* A number of smaller events are in pipeline that will take place throughout the year in order to connect women from every nook and corner of India. One year of operations had seen 2 successful "Talk of Town" events in Pune and Delhi.

* Many women leave the profession to play their biological roles as Mothers. Presently, there is no provision for such women to update or upgrade themselves. WADe wants to work in this area to stand by those who wish to come back to the profession.
