ಶ್ರೀ ಮಹಮ್ಮಾಯಿ ಮಂದಿರ

SHETTIGADU is a place close to Punaroor of Talipady village, which is about 30 KM. from Mangalore. Goddess Mahamayi along with other Deities i.e., Sri Mahishandaya, Satyadevate, Panjurli, Vartetukattari and Guliga Panjurli were being worshiped as family deities by Late Sri Babbu Shettigar. The tradition of worship has a history of over 150 years, continued by his sons, grandsons and family. During the Ashtamangala session it emerged that the place would prosper in a big way and would become a Pilgrim spot.

Keeping in mind the outcome of the Ashtamangala session and with the advice and content of distinguished elders, the following decisions were taken in the presence of members of Late Sri Babbu Shettigar’s family :

Separate temple for Goddess ‘Mahamayi’ and ‘Daivasthanas’
Pakashala and Nivedya shala
Re installation of Deities (Pratistapana)

 The proposed project costed around Rs. 23 Lakhs and was completed within 7 - 8 Months of time. A Temple Renovation Committee was formed and a Joint Account in the name of President (Krishnappa Shettigar), Secretary (Thukaram Shettigar) & Treasurer (Ashok Shettigar) of the committee was opened in Canara Bank - Kinnigoli Branch (SB Account No. 0635101066763). Names of the Donors above Rs. 5,000/- is displayed on the Permanent Board inside the Temple premises.
