The word chola means to cloak.
A secondary meaning of chola is to transmigrate or to die.
Chola may be used to imply that the body is the cloak of the soul.

The chola is Khalsa bana and is the formal dress of warrior attire traditionally worn by Sikhs into battle. A chola may be worn with a pajama trouser of simply over kachhera. The front opening and side slits of the chola enable ease of movement. A warrior could maneuver and jump, or ride astride the back of a horse. In modern times a chola is often worn during displays demonstrating Gatka, the Sikh martial art.
