Siddharthanagar

Siddharthanagar municipality is headquarter of Rupandehi District on the Outer Terai plains of Nepal, 265km west of Kathmandu Nepal's capital. Siddharthanagar is the administrative headquarters of Rupandehi District. It is known as "Gateway of Lumbini." Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautama Buddha is 25 km to the west. Bhairahawa is under the administration of Siddharthanagar Nagarpalika so often known as Siddharthanagar.EtymologyBhairahawa was derived from the deity Bhairava a manifestation of Shiva. Siddharthanagar comes from the Buddha's given name "Siddhartha." Buddha was born near this city.
