We are located in South India, Kerala (God’s Own Country), Varkala beach, one of the Top 10 beaches in India, rated 3rd place by Tourists, and one of the First 30 Tour Destinations in the Planet, rated 28th place among the 100 top ‘Best Value Index’ around the globe.

The main beach is Papanasam beach. The word Papanasam means washing away sins. The legend says, that to take a dip in the waters of Papanasam Beach washes away all the sins in one’s life.

Shiva Garden Home Stay is located 5 min. walking distance from Papanasam beach, 10 min by rickshaw from Varkala town and 20 min from the picturesque Backwaters.

Shiva Garden Home Stay offers a range of budget and medium-priced accommodation located in a large private garden with a friendly, family atmosphere. Facilities include a restaurant, Wi-Fi, activity hall, therapy room, playground area for adults and children, chill-out area, books for exchange, a esoteric library and toys and bicycles for children are available.

PRICES
Prices range from 300 INR to 3.000 INR per night. Different types of accommodation are available including dormitory, tents, tree huts, budget rooms, balcony rooms and apartments.

THE AMBIANCE
During December to February, in the high season, Shiva Garden can gather around 50 to 70 guests from different parts of society, religions, ages from 1 to 80 years old, and from all over the world. It’s usual to see guests meeting each other there, making friendship, going together to the beach and at night time to the restaurants for dinner. After dinner, they come back and enjoy the evening at the garden.

Also from time to time, guests meet in Shiva Garden, fall in love and have babies, and after some time, come to visit the Shiva garden family, with the new born.

Shiva Garden have a private area where guests feel comfortable to hang around during the day, when they are not at the beach.

In the High Season Jayan organizes parties offering Classical Indian Dance, Bollywood Dance, Oriental and Belly Dance, Yoga Performances and Flute.

Shiva Garden offers a different and alive experience of tourism.

The ambiance is easy going, homely and friendly. It is an experience, like our guests say in Trip Advisor, of… “feeling at home far away from home”….

TYPES OF ACCOMMODATION

APARTMENTS
Each room has been lovingly crafted to provide our guests with a comfortable and homely experience. Our king-size twin-bed rooms have two large, comfortable beds and a large, private bathroom with hot water (solar-powered). The Apartments are ideal for families and groups. All rooms are well ventilated.
The comfortable and authentic Indian experience we provide – amidst lush, green surroundings – inspires many of our guests to return year after year.
Apartments 2 and 3 have free Wi-Fi connection.
Apartment 4 have kitchen.

LODGING DELUXE ROOMS
Our deluxe rooms are clean and well-appointed, well suited to travelers who are planning a long stay in Varkala during their visit to India.
There are two types of deluxe rooms at Shiva Garden:
Some of the rooms have a balcony with chairs for relaxing, reading or simply surveying the jungles of Varkala.
Others are more spacious but have no balcony.
Rooms 103 (downstairs with balcony) and 107 (upstairs without balcony) have free Wi-Fi connection.

HOME-STAY ROOMS
Our home stay, or standard rooms, offer simple accommodation for short-term travelers who require a clean, simple room in which to rest and recuperate before continuing their travels.
All Home-Stay rooms have free Wi-Fi connection.

TREE HUT
The tree house rooms, raised above the jungle floor, are a traditional style of South-East Asian accommodation.
Wi-Fi connection is available in Tree Hut 1.

DORMITORY
The dormitory is the most basic of our accommodation options. It is a traditional Indian “thatch-hut” living experience.
There are two open-air, top floor areas with mixed dormitories in two different buildings.
We also have double –beds, in a more private area, for couples.
Free Wi-Fi connection is available in both dormitories.

TENDS
The tents, located on the rooftop, offer a more private type of budget accommodation.
You can sleep under the stars with a view of coconut treetops.
These rooms have 60-degree views of the garden area and the village of Varkala.

RESTAURANT
Our Kerala Restaurant features typical kerala THALI everyday to spice up your taste buds and raise your spirits.
Try our typical Keralan breakfasts, natural fruit juices, and our famous fruit salad.
