Shibpur Public Library

In the year 1874 a "NEWS ROOM" was established in Shibpur Halder Para Lane by Sri Kangali Charan Halder. Later after three years, it was finally named as "SHIBPUR PUBLIC LIBRARY". In the year 1916, a land of 25 katas was purchased at 178 Shibpur Road, Howrah and the building committee started the construction of the new building. In the year 1920, the front portion of the building was completed and the library works was started.
