Shepherds Lodge Satyanarayan

Originally built by British in the year 1882 and renovated in 2009, Satyanarayan Lodge is situated in the Raja Ji Tiger Reserve, 12 Kms from Haridwar on the NH 58 opposite Satyanarayan Temple between Raiwala and Nepali Farm. Under the supervision of the Uttarakhand Forest Development Corporation, the lodge is marketed and managed by the Mountain Shepherds Initiative. Locally known as the Fishing lodge (Machli Bangla) it is set amongst thick, pristine forest on a large campus, with at least 35 recorded species of visitor birds and a multitude of butterflies, making it a bird watchers paradise. Occasional visits by a curious leopard and elephants add a thrill to the experience!

The Lodge has four comfortable, air conditioned double bedrooms with attached baths. Two of the rooms are with extra bunk beds, perfect for a family stay. All meals and refreshments are freshly prepared on campus and you will have access to the small but fully functional kitchen. The power back up is limited for fans though! All the garbage generated is responsibly managed outside the Tiger Reserve and a trash management log is formally maintained.

The team will arrange Jungle Safaris with experienced guides at the Chilla and Motichur ranges of the Rajaji Tiger Reserve. The Reserve is home to several species of birds though it is better known for its more famous inhabitants, tigers, elephants and leopards. The Safaris are an exhilarating way to connect with the forest and its inhabitants. River rafting expeditions offer adventure of another kind. The staff can assist you in sketching a tailor-made itinerary for your vacations.

Spare times and evenings provide an atmosphere of peaceful reflection with activities around the lodge. There is a fledgling library and some board games for children which they can enjoy in the tree house. With limited comforts and abundance of nature all around, the lodge is a perfect place for families to orient their kids towards nature and conservation. Kids below ten years are not charged for food and only a nominal fee is charged if there is a demand for extra beds for the kids. Please note bonfire and loud music is strictly prohibited in the campus. Guests are strongly advised not to leave their kids alone in the outdoors.
