S.D.M College has introduced 'SDM Multimedia Studio’, in the year 2007, to train the students in Electronic Media Production. This production centre encouraging the pupils to come up with various studio productions like producing weekly TV news bulletin, Documentary, Special segments, Short Films, Promo, Interview and Vine Videos.
Studio also produces educational videos which has free access to all learners throughout the globe. Along with this it has the credit of recording ‘Golden Lecture Series’ – which has the discourses of 100 eminent scholars of the Karnataka State.

Nammura Varthe:
Electronic media has created a new wave in recent era. It’s been a key source of job opportunity for the people, who have opted Journalism as their career. In order to give the practical experience of News production S.D.M. College’s Journalism department produces a weekly news bulletin - “Nammura Varthe”.
“Nammura Varthe” started in August 15th, 2008 and successfully produced more than 340 news bulletins so far. This 20 minutes weekly news bulletin gives the proficient exercise to the students. This course includes Collection and classification of news and visuals, writing appropriate scripts, Anchoring and recording the news. It also enables the students to assess the real work pressure and news value. Here, students can gain the knowledge of editing process.

Documentary:
A documentary film is a nonfictional motion picture intended to document some aspect of reality, primarily for the purposes of instruction, education, or maintaining a historical record. The purpose of documentaries varies from film to film. Many documentary filmmakers attempt to change or improve society in some way with their documentaries.
Producing documentary involves lot of pre and post production works. But the vigorous training has facilitated the students to tackle with these Hercules task. SDM MMS has produced nearly 100 documentaries so far.

Segments:
Today, the media world has severe shortage of special segment writers. Obviously it has created wide range of demand for the skilled writers in this particular section. Hence, MMS is giving special training to the MCJ students in this section. It has included the special segments in its work routine. Here the I & II MCJ students prepare segments on selected topic.
Features of Special Segments:
• 2 special segments per week
• Duration – 15 minutes
• On selected topics like – Fashion, Health, Beauty care, Prominent News Stories and local stories.

Short Films:
SDM Multimedia Studio encourages the students to produce short films with the theme of their interest. Studio provides technical support and necessary guidance in preparing story, screen play and shooting script.
Making short film is similar to producing a movie. Generally it includes most of the procedures of a film production. Short film reflects the creativity of the students, as it brings out the ability of the learner in filming a fictional story and making it a reality.

Interviews:
Recording interview is a special task, as it requires high end technical requirement. So far SDM MMS has 5 personality interviews in its stack.

Vine Videos:
SDM Multimedia studio has introduced the trending concept of making vine videos, which is very popular in social media. Basically vine is a short-form video sharing service where users can share six-second-long looping video clips. But SDM MMS has developed a unique concept of giving one message at the end of the vine video; hence the six seconds video is allowed to be upto 1 minute where the vine video maker can employ the fun elements to deliver a serious message to the viewers.
Already the studio has produced many prize winning vine videos and the students eagerly producing vivid durational videos on different concepts like helmet usage, suicidal tendency, clean India etc.

SDM E-Learning
One of the most ambitious projects commenced by the SDM Multimedia Studio is SDM E-Learning development project or E-Lecture. The SDM MMS has dedicated wing i.e., Studio -2 for recording these video lectures and later the same content will be utilized as an innovative teaching tool.
E-Learning project has the distinctive motto of helping the student folks in adopting the new method of teaching supported by the technology.

SDM E-Practical
SDM E-Practical is another effort of the SDM MMS to digitalize the practical classes of Science, humanities and engineering subject which helps the pupil to observe the class with all its details and play and learn whenever they feel like. This project helps the students as they can access these contents online in the official YouTube page of SDM MMS.
