Sawai Madhopur

Sawai Madhopur is a city and Municipal Corporation (Nagar Parishad) in the Sawai Madhopur District in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is an administrative headquarters of the district.It is home to the Ranthambore National Park which includes the historic Ranthambore Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Sawai Madhopur is famous for the Trinetra Ganesh temple and guavas, affectionately known as "Madhopur guavas" in Rajasthan.HistorySawai Madhopur was built as a planned city by Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh I of Jaipur. Construction began on 19 January 1763. The town is named after Sawai Madho. Sawai Madhopur celebrates its foundation day annually on 19 January.ClimateSawai Madhopur has a subtropical, dry climate with distinct winter, summer and rainy seasons. The highest temperature occurs between May and June up to 49C. The lowest temperature occurs between December and January, down to 2C The average rainfall in Sawai Madhopur is 800 mm with a monsoon season from July to December when Ranthambore National Park is closed. In summer, the average humidity is 10 to 15 percent and 60 percent in the rainy season. The ideal tourist season is from November to May.
