Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal Sankhali

Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal was founded in the year 1981 under the chairperson Sadanand S. Kanekar at Samaj Mandir hall, Sankhali. Late Ratnakant Rajaram Pangam 1st President and founder, had this idea of celebrating Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav in Sankhali. Because of him and other ganesh Bakts (followers) effort, this Mandal came into existence under all odds.

This Mandal has brought together people from different age groups, castes & cultures under one social cause of helping needy & poor people. The main ambition of Lokmanya Tilak who started this utsav in the year 1894 in Pune, is getting fulfilled after looking at the work done by our Mandal in last 34 years.

The Mandal was officially Registered under Societies Registration Act 1860 with Reg. No 16/89 in the year 1989. Most of the social & cultural activities during Ganeshotsav were sponsored by local members as there was lack of fund. Today we are working with the same attitude & zeal. Mandal now has written constitution (rules & regulation) which has to be followed by every member taking part in this Utsav.

Today we have our own premises Ganesh Bhavan & Omkar Bhavan to carry out social, cultural educational & Spiritual activities throughout the year. Local authorities like Panchayat / Municipality have also helped us in celebrating our Ganeshotsav by providing the place required for celebration.

Gradually work load has increased over the years, resulting in having two separate committees to carry out this social work. Now we have one Central Committee comprising of eleven members which works for three years & one Utsav Samiti working specially to celebrate the Ganeshotsav & its term is one year. Upcoming generation who are enthusiastic, ready to work hard on social field, forms the Utsav Samiti and once matured they join the Central committee, to take higher responsibilities. Annual general body meetings decide & forms these committees. Thus new members are added every year.

We have initiated all activities on micro level & reached the highest peak of recognition from the people of Goa. Due to the social commitment, dedication, enthusiasm and sincerity of all members and well wishers, today after over three decades our Mandal is known as, one of the distinguished social organization working for the betterment and service of the masses.
