More about Sarawan Bodla - Farmhouse

This is the second largest village of Punjab, as per revenue records of the state. This village is situated on state highway # 10, about 9 kilometers away from Malout, on Malout –Abohar road. Our Dist.Head Quarter is Sri Muktsar Sahib in Punjab, India Pin#152107.

This village was founded more than two Centuries ago by forefathers of Bodla’s, a tribe which migrated from Multan through Bahawalpur to Montgomery. Bodla’s are part of Wattu Rajputs, who claim to be descendents of Abu Bakar Sadiq. Bodla’s are credited with the power of curing disease by exorcism, and especially snake-bite and hydrophobia; they are recognized Saints and can cure with great efficacy. They have build up a very huge and beautiful mosque ,about 130 years ago in our village. After partition of India in 1947, most of the Bodla’s migrated to Pakistan and settled in Multan.

Now majority of the residents are Jat Sikhs, who have also been migrated from, approximately 40 villages of East Punjab, of Pakistan, especially from tehsil Kasur, District Lahore. We have about 20 -25 families of pre partition time, mostly Hindu’s engaged in small business or petty/retail trades.

Most of the people are engaged in agriculture. Since we have agricultural land of more than 8000 acres and is scattered in radius of 4-5 kilometers, majority of farmers are living in their own farms known as Dhanies/farm houses. Land is very fertile, fully irrigated by canals or tube wells.
