The Co-operative Planning committee defined co-operation "as a form of organization in which people voluntarily associate together on a basis of equality for the promotion of their economic interests."

Samruddha Jeevan co-operation story started from a small village, strengthened and grown like a big tree as a Samruddha Jeevan Multi State Multi Purpose Co-operative Society Limited in Pune. India has a rich history of co-operative movement; likewise Maharashtra also plays a lead role in the movement as well. Apart from Agriculture, Banking and other flourishing sectors, Co-operative Society also plays a key role in the growth and development of Nation.

On 8th June 2012, Samruddha Jeevan received Registration
Certification
from Govt. of India, Ministry of Agriculture, Department Of Agriculture & Co-Operation. Samruddha Jeevan Multi State Multi Purpose Co-operative Society Ltd., Tantra Bulding 4th Floor, Yashodhan Business Complex, Ghole Road Shivaji Nagar, Pune -05 (Maharashtra) has been registered as Multi State Co-operative Society under section 7 of Multi State Co-operative Societies Act, 2002.(39 of 2002) of the rules framed there under.

The Registration number of the Society is MSCS/CR/549/2012. Initially the area of operation of the society shall be confined to the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. On 28th March 2013, the society got permission to expand its area of operation in another 10 states; Delhi, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh , Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Orissa, Punjab, Goa and Rajasthan.
