Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School, Ponmalaippatti

In 1918, a school was started in Adaikalamatha Church at Ponmalaipatti as a single teacher school. In 1918 April the First Indian Bishop Most Rev. Roach build a small school building . Slowly the school got the remuneration from the Government. The government allotted 3 teachers for 34 students. That time there were only 3 class rooms. The grotto of Sacred Heart was build during the year 1937.
The co founders of Sacred Heart Brothers gave up full charge in the year 1944. Almost 23 members had worked for the betterment of this school. We sincerely thank them for their great contribution towards our school.Middle school.In 1951 Middle school is separated from the Primary school with the strength of 11teachers and 192 studentsHigh SchoolIn 1953 our school became the High School with the strength of 12 teachers and 328 students. The first batch of S.S.L.C. students entered in the government examination. During this period only the school got the name “Samiyar School”. In 1957 Fr. H. Patrick Issac became the High School Head Master .New emblem and motto (Luceat Lux Vestra) was given to the school by Fr. Patrick. In 1959 Fr. K. Michael Swamy B.A., B. T. takes over the school as the correspondent and Headmaster . In 1962 the first batch of N.C.C.(aeronautic) was started. In 1965 the Scout was established. In 1978 the school celebrated its Silver Jubilee. In memory of silver Jubilee Cultural auditorium was constructed. The Alumni Association was started.Higher Secondary SchoolIn 1979 school got the recognition for Higher Secondary Courses. In 1985 Mr. S. Vijayakumar got 469/500 in S.S.L.C. Pubic examination. Now he is working as physician. In the same year Infant Jesus English Medium School was started.
In 1988 the Tamil Pandit Mr. A. Sambathamoorthy got the State level bestteacher award. In 1990 Our former Headmaster Fr. S. Savariyar got the state level best teacher award The memorial building for Fr. S. Savariyar was built by Fr. Mariasoosai. In 1992 the school had the highest strength of 3200 students with 62 teachers.The Rozario Block was established by Fr. R. Manokardoss. During those period Infant Jesus English School was transformed to Matric Board. In 2002 Fr. S. Thomas developed infra structure of the building and compound wall. Golden Jubilee Block was constructed. He made all the thatched and tiled class rooms into concrete building.
