Rotary Club of Kottayam East

The Club started with 31 members and initially known as the Kottayam Suburban Club. It was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Kottayam as the third club in Kottayam. The provisional Club was formally inaugurated on Friday 4th of April 1986 at the Rotary Hall. The Charter President was Rtn Jacob Abraham and Secretary Rtn Philip Jacob. The Club was admitted into the Rotary International on 2nd of May 1986 bearing charter No 23668. The Charter Nite was held on the 7th of June 1986 at Pulicken's Complex. Air Marshal TJ Desa , Air Officer, Commanding-in-chief , Southern Air Command was the Chief Guest. We remember with gratitude Rtn PDG A I Abraham and GSR Rtn PP Joy Joseph who were behind the formation of this Club. Though chartered as the Rotary Club of Suburban , it was renamed 'Rotary Club of Kottayam East' a year later on 20th March 1987.
