Regional Medical Research Centre, NE Region, one of the six regional centres of Indian Council of Medical research under the Department of Health Research in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, was established on 12th July, 1982 in Dibrugarh, Assam with a goal to cater to the biomedical research needs of the north-eastern states using multidisciplinary approach and to train and build up technical manpower dealing with health in the region. It covers all the eight states of the north-eastern region and is responsible for carrying out bio-medical research in the region. The Centre is having its 34-acres permanent campus in the outskirts of Dibrugarh town housing offices, laboratories, animal house, guest house, auditorium and residential quarters.
