Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve or Ranthambhore National Park is situated in the state of Rajasthan in the districts of Sawai Madhopur and Karauli. It is really one of the best places in the country to see the majestic predators in the Jungle. Its, ‘friendly tiger’s activities have made it as a Haven for Tiger sighting. That’s why, it is also known,” Day Sighting Park for Tigers. But, it is always a matter of chance and tiger’s sighting can never be taken for granted.

Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve is one of the smallest Project Tiger Reserve in the state of Rajasthan. Its name comes from the massive 10th Century fort of Ranthambhore that stands in the middle of the park. Prior to its declaration as National Park, the whole forest area of Ranthambhore was a very popular private hunting place for Jaipur Mahrajas. It was declared as Sawai Madhopur wild life sanctuary in1955. In 1973, India launched a comprehensive conservation programm called’ Project Tiger”. Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve was the smallest of nine chosen tiger habitat. In 1991, Project Tiger extended from 392 sq. kms to 1350 sq.kms to cover all the protected areas declared in 1984 i.c the Sawai Man Singh Sancturary, Kelacevi Sancturary and the Kualiji Game Reserve. It is a place that is considered,’ A Dream land of tiger’ for wild life photographers & wild life loves. This is only place where tigers have its own name & its unique id (code).
