More about Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science, Paklihawa Campus

Located in the Siddharthanagar Municipality of Rupandehi district, Paklihawa Campus was established as a branch campus of Institute of Agriculture and Animal Sciences (IAAS)- Nepal on 15th January 1979. Several developments have taken since then. Earlier the campus used to run academic courses of Intermediate in Agricultural Sciences (I.Sc.Ag.) upto 1984. Due to the growing demand for lower level agricultural technicians this was replaced by Vocational Training for Junior Technical Assistant (JTA) till 1990. Again, the I.Sc. Ag. Program was reintroduced from 1990 to 2001. With the phase out of Intermediate program from Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science (IAAS), Bachelor Degree in Agricultural Sciences (B.Sc.Ag.) was started at the campus from June 30, 2002. However, the campus used to run only the initial 4 semesters at the campus and then the students used to be transferred to the central campus for completion of the course. With the successful running of the initial four semesters, the campus was mandated for running full eight semesters of B.Sc. Ag. from 2012. Now, the campus currently runs all the course requirements of Bachelors of Science in Agriculture.

There are 23 residential quarters for lecturers and 48 rooms are present for staffs. A guest house is also located at the campus to entertain visitors from outside. The campus has football ground, volleyball, basketball and badminton courts for overall physical development of the students as well as the staffs.
For gaining field based experience to the students and to showcase the technologies, the campus consists of separate agronomy, horticulture and livestock farms. The farms are spread across 35 hectares of land and different crops such as paddy, wheat, seasonal and offseasonal vegetables and fruits are cultivated.
