Introduction

Despite 65 years of independence a large number of Indian people are still far away from the basic amenities like nutritious food, pure drinking water, clothes, housing, basic health and education facilities, the scenario is even worse in rural and tribal areas. Poverty, lliteracy, Unemployment and deaths due to malnutrition and communicable diseases like diarrhea and malaria are the problems plaguing the society today.

It is the responsibility of every human being to introspect and reflect upon the sufferings of the fellow human being. This is the main motto for which “Nenu Sytham” has taken its birth with its agenda being ‘live and let live’.

The main concepts that ‘Nenu Sytham’ has adopted and decided to revolutionize are Health, Environment and Education. We want to target people below poverty line and others who are living in rural and tribal areas of Andhra Pradesh and are far away from basic health, education facilities and government policies

Objectives

Health

Primary health

- Addressing primary health ailments like personal hygiene including dental hygiene, bathing, dressing hand wash before meals and after defecation.

- Providing primary health care and treating common diseases like malaria, diarrhea, anemia and tuberculosis including prophylaxis. Ensuring the availability of basic medicines and first aid round the clock.
- Supplementation of iron and multi vitamin tablets for young girls, pregnant women and children with nutritional deficiencies.

- Supplementation of nutritional food and eggs for children suffering from malnutrition.

- Treating skin diseases, worm infestations and supplementation of ORS for diarrhea.

- Education about menstrual hygiene, gynecologic problems, antenatal care and promotion of safe deliveries.

- Bringing awareness among adolescents regarding contraception, family planning and prevention of HIV and Sexually Transmitted Diseases.


- Organizing free medical camps involving doctors of all the specialties periodically in rural and tribal areas particularly in endemic areas and providing basic diagnostic facilities like X-RAY, ECG, malaria and urine pregnancy test, distributing medicines free of cost for seasonal and chronic diseases.

- Immediately responding to the epidemic out breaks and natural calamities ensuring them the supply of basic needs like food, clothes, and shelter and lifesaving medications during the time of disasters.

- Organizing free eye checkup camps and getting cataract surgeries done for elderly.

- Training of local youth of concerned villages about the management of basic health problems and first aid. Making medicines available round the clock in the remote areas.

- Helping the Medical offices and staff of primary and community health centers in identifying health problems by continuous communication with them and helping them out in delivering better health care.

- Identifying major health problems and chronic diseases and maintain proper referral system to the tertiary health care systems like referral hospitals and district hospitals.

- Bringing awareness regarding ill effects of habits like smoking, alcoholism (Maddi Kallu, Sara, Gudumba) and organizing de addiction camps, helping them in rehabilitation.


- Establishment of hospitals with tertiary health care facilities and providing health services the poor and needy. These are equipped with the diagnostic and surgical facilities, dialysis units and platelet separating machines.
- Bringing awareness about blood donation and organizing blood donation camps. Encouraging the youth in different institutions and organizations regarding blood donation and maintaining the data base of the blood groups and contact numbers of the donors.

- Promotion of healthy life style among the people of rural and tribal villages like exercise, meditation, Yoga and taking balanced diet.

- Providing facility of mobile medical vans and telemedicine for remote villages without basic health facilities.


- Providing psychiatric counseling in students with psychological problems and maintaining a help line.













Environment

Drinking water

Provision of pure drinking water for all through different modalities including

- Construction of water projects using tanks and pipelines through Gravity method for villages located in hilly areas.

- Establishment of water projects using motors, electricity and solar energy.


- Digging bore wells and wells for both drinking and domestic purpose.

- Establishment of water treatment plants using reverse osmosis including chlorination and defluoridation.

- Training local youth in maintenance of constructed water plants.

Watershed management

- Constructing water harvesting plants there by providing proper irrigation facilities and recharging the ground water.

- Promoting drip irrigation and step culture in water deprived and hilly areas.



Sanitation

- Providing closed toilet facilities in villages and educating the importance of safe disposal of human excreta in preventing the disease.

- Construction of proper drainage system thus preventing water borne diseases.


- Educating the people in maintain their premises clean thus preventing propagation of flies and mosquitoes responsible for many diseases.

- Encouraging the people to maintain separate cattle houses and piggeries far from the residential areas.


- Promotion of nurseries, plantation, floriculture and cultivation of herbs with medicinal values.

- Encouraging commercial crops like coffee, pulses and seasonal fruits and helping out the farmers getting good market price for their products.


- Provision and encouragement of usage of organic fertilizers, providing good quality seeds to the farmers.


Providing clothes, blankets and mosquito nets to the poor and needy.





Youth and women empowerment

- Giving training to the unemployed youth in vocational courses and thereby enhancing their skills for promoting self-employment.

- Establishing small scale and micro industries using local forest products like addaku, coffee powder, bricks and oil tilling showing employment to the youth and women of the rural and trial areas of Andhra Pradesh making them self-sustainable.


- Encouraging the rural women to form self-help groups and self-finance groups there by promoting small savings useful for their family welfare.

Construction of orphanages, old age homes, homes for physically, mentally challenged, socially rejected women and HIV infected children.

Providing road and transport facilities for all the remote villages.










Education

Primary education

- Bringing awareness in parents about the value of education and motivating them to send their children to schools.

- To identify school drop outs, addressing their problems and making them to rejoin in the schools and giving counseling to parents.


- Provision of uniforms, books, slates, bags, and other stationary materials for school going children. Giving incentives for the children attending the schools.

- Supporting the teachers and other school staff in implementing the Govt. programs like mid day meal scheme.


- Helping in improvement of school infrastructure like boards, benches and sports kits etc. thus promoting a healthy school environment.

- Ensuring the children who are involved in child labor to stop working, rejoin the schools and counseling them, rehabilitation of their parents.

- Identifying the children involved in child labor, informing and helping the government to abolish child labor.

Nenu Sytham volunteers will conduct education programs on Sundays and holidays teaching children human values, Indian culture and patriotism. Encourage them to learn Vandemataram, Jana gana mana and pledge.

Secondary education

- After primary education helping out the children to join nearby secondary and residential schools.

- Providing transport facilities and bicycles especially to young girls going to secondary schools to ensure that they do not stop education.


- Choosing children studying SSC in government schools and organizing intensive coaching camps for final exams, competitive exams like polytechnic, ITI and helping out them in choosing the right career and providing quality material from ‘Nenu Sytham’.

- Helping out students who successfully completed SSC to continue their education and join in intermediate and other vocational courses.


- Counseling the parents of girl students encouraging them to continue their daughter’s higher education and helping the girls in pursuing the same thus preventing the marriages at an earlier age and strengthening women empowerment.

- Addressing the problems and improving facilities in secondary schools and junior, vocational colleges, and residential hostels.

Higher Education

- Encouraging the students successfully completed intermediate to join degree, engineering and medical colleges. Counseling the parents and girl students in continuing higher education.

- Conducting intensive coaching camps and providing materials for students preparing for competitive exams like CEEP, EAMCET, ICET, Groups I-IV, VROs, VDOs, AEs, DSC, Ed CET, Law CET, SI, Constables, excise constables, all PGCETs, Bank exams and all other APPSC exams.


SUPER 60

- Selecting 60 members who completed their graduation from all over Andhra Pradesh and giving intensive residential coaching for UPSC civil services exams.


- Establishing library facilities in all mandal headquarters and providing material for all competitive exams.



Sports

- Encouraging youth to practice and participate in our native sports like Kabaddi, Kho Kho, Archery, Running, Hockey and Athletics, providing them with concerned sports kits and facilities.

- Organizing sports meet every year on behalf of ‘Nenu Sytham’ to inculcate national unity and integrity.

Communication

- Helping the rural and tribal villagers using TVs, telephones, cell phones and internet facilities to maintain connectivity with the outside world.

- Training the youth with basic computer knowledge and spoken English.


SOCIAL SERVICE NETWORK

- Introducing a new concept of Social Service Network and maintaining a social network involving people interested in social service to interact and inspire each other taking Nenu Sytham’s motto ‘live and let live’ to the international arena.

- Maintaining the website nenusytham.org and sharing all the activities organized by Nenu Sytham regularly. Maintaining transparency in displaying the donations and audit reports periodically. Maintaining the database of blood donors and their contact numbers in the website.



Adult and women literacy


- Spreading the concept and importance of women education, adult literacy and encouraging the literate youth to organize literacy drives in their concerned villages thus motivating every person in the village to become literate, providing them with related material and infrastructure on behalf of Nenu Sytham.



MISCELLANEOUS

- Providing tri cycles, sewing machines and other professional support for physically handicapped, widows, socially abused, rejected women and providing necessary rehabilitation.


- Identifying the problems of rural, tribal areas and communicating the same to the concerned government officials. Helping the government to implement government schemes and ensuring that they reach the targeted population.


- Constructing cultural renaissance centers and marriage function halls and encouraging preservation of their cultural arts like Dhimsa dance.


- Conducting mass marriage camps, encouraging inter caste marriages, and providing them with financial and social support.
