My Vijayawada

The name Vijayawada is derived from the presiding deity, Kanaka Durga, also called Vijaya. Vijayawada city is also popularly known by its historic name Bezawada, which is used by the Indian Railways in assigning its railway station code "BZA". The city is well connected to major Indian cities by air and rail, and has the second biggest railway junction in India.

The literacy rate in Vijayawada 81.60%. The city has an area of 261.88 sq kms & a population of more than 1.5 million. Vijayawada has been recognized as a Global City of the Future by McKinsey & Company.

The city is a major trading and business center and hence, it is also known as “The Business Capital of Andhra Pradesh.”
