Melattur, Kerala

Melattur is a town in Malappuram district of Kerala. It is situated on the banks of the Velliyar river. The name Melattur came from the Malayalam words 'Mele', 'Aaru' and 'Ooru' ; i.e., 'place near upstream'. There are places named Edayattur, and Keezhattur on the banks of the river Olippuzha. The town is well connected to Perinthalmanna, Mannarkkad, Manjeri and Karuvarakundu . The shortest route connecting Kozhikode with Palakkad passes through Melattur.FacilitiesFrom Melattur Panchayat bus stand, buses are available to Kozhikode, Mannarkkad, Palakkad,Kalikavu Nilambur, Edathanattukara and Thrissur.The Shoranur-Nilambur Railway Line passes through here and all trains got stop in Melattur.
