More about Magariwara

The Mighty, Noble, Stubborn, Ferocious,Valiant and Rajwadi Chauhan Rajjputs ruled over a large part of Rajputana during 8th to 15th century among whom His Excellency Prithviraj Chauhan, created havoc among the Barbarian Turkish Invaders. He was the last hindu ruler of our Motherland.
Few branches of the ferociously valiant Chauhans are Hada, Balot, Khichi, Sonegra....
Among them ferocious and stubborn branch, The DEORA's Migrated to the holy land of Arbudanchal and established Sirohi as their new Kingdom in 1482 A.D.
SIROHI" as Colonel Mellson rightly remarked "is the one domain in Rajputana which maintained its Independence, acknowledging the suzerainty of neither Mugal, Rathores, nor Maratha" . The princely house at Sirohi is an offshoot of the same branch, Chauhan, to which the last Hindu Emperor of India belched. Historic pride Clings to masses as much as to Individuals, Conducing to honorable pride when rightly felt, and to none can it therefore cling more firmly than to "the Magnificently Stubborn Deora," the particular seet at the Chauhans who have ruled over Sirohi during the past six centuries.
In puranic tradition, this region has always been referred to as Arbudaranya. It is believed that Rishi Vasistha retired to the southern spur at Mount Abu after his sons had been slain by Vishvamitra.
The followers of Noble King RAO LAKHA, who had badly defeated Nawab of Gujrat, landed on a holy land and established new Fiefdom " MAGRIWADA" near to Gujrat Border. It include Jagirs of Dhanpura, Jawal, Khodal, Devadu and Devgarh and many more. This Thikana was founded by Thakur Ranmal Singh Deora in1745. Thereon, many Thakurs governed this fiefdom and a few and famous among them were Martyr Thakur Kaan Singh who fought to save the cows and Brahmins of Nearby villages and became A local deity( jujhar). Few others were Thakur Vachan Singh and Thakur Jujhar Singh. Many among them fought for the environment, a incident which is still being sung by the Bards and Bhats is that of Thakur Sumer Singh who attacked the troups of Nawab of Palanpur which was on a visit to hunt the wild animals of the region.
This is not all, the light of bravery is not lit by the males only, Females also came forward to sacrifice their lives for well being of Motherland. Famous among them who became SATI are Thakurani Bikaneri ji and Thakurani Deolji.
A very renowned and respectable lady, aged 105 years, Majisa Jadav Kunwar Ba recently passed away. She was considered
to be a incarnation of Meera Bai because of her devotional and sacrificial nature. On her journey to funeral pyre, a mob of some 2000 people came to pay their tribute to this eternal soul.
This place has many famous temple, among which many belong to the old era like Sangameshwar Mahadev Temple which is on the bank of a collection of 3 rivers( Triveni Sangam). Kusuma Ramchandraji is believed to have been established by Sri Shatrughan, Younger brother of Lord Ram, as a tribute to Purushottam Bhagwan. Jagadamba Mata temple also called Baan Mata Temple because of a famous legend attached to it which says that Goddess Durga had killed Demon Banasur on a Mountain where a temple has been built.
There are many 'Chatris' and 'Devlis' of departed brave and valiant souls.
Presently it is being governed By Thakur Sahab Prithvi Singh ji Deora.
