More about Leads India Page

Star International Senior Secondary School, affiliated to CBSE- New Delhi run by LEADS ( Louis Educational and Social Development Society) started in 1999 in Ranchi, Jharkhand. It was started with the ambition of providing education to society free from discrimination on all grounds.

Mr. Dinesh Kumar Singh, an alumni from JNU and a teacher in the true sense of the term along with his wife Sanchaita Singh, an equally passionate teacher wanted to start a school as they believed strongly that education is a necessity that has the power to shape a child's life holistically.

The devastating Kosi Floods in 2008 which rendered 3 million people homeless and killed many led to Project "Samvedna" , an initiative in serving people, after seeking due permission from the home Ministry in Bihar .

On one hand where the nation was generously sending donations in cash and essential supplies, Star International School decided to adopt 100 children from the flood relief camps and provide them with quality education and boarding amenities. Accordingly, 22 children along with their living parent/guardian were identified after following a strict screening procedure. These children along with their parents/ guardians were brought down to Ranchi on 17th November, 2008, with the blessings of the honourable chief minister of Bihar, Shri Nitish Kumar.

In 2009, under the Nishulk Siksha Abhiyaan Baalika Vishesh - an initiative to educate girls from families below poverty line was taken up and 20 girls were identified and adopted by the school. Additionally, the school identified 5 families to be brought down to the school under the Sampoorn Rozgar Evam Vikas Yojna - an initiative to provide employment and development to landless below poverty line people. The adults were provided suitable employment within the school and children with education and boarding facilities. At present the school houses 57 children and we aspire to continue our efforts consistently in serving humanity through education.

We welcome generous participation in our mission from likeminded people who would like to make a difference to the lives of these children and provide them with an equal opportunity for education.
