Kalka, a town situated within the district panchkula of Haryana, The name of the town comes from the Goddess "Kali". The Town is placed within the foot hills of Great Himalays and could be a entry to the near state of Himachal Pradesh. It's is the only National Highway (NH 21 and NH 22) between Chandigarh and Shimla. In the north of Kalka there is the industrial area of Parwanoo (Himachal Pradesh) and in the south side there is Pinjore. There is a huge industrial development continously spreading from pinjore to parwanoo, however Kalka remain unaffected by all these. Near is Chandimandir Miltary Headquarters(Chandimandi Cantonment) a base of Indian Army Western Command. In 2013 Kalka comes under Panchkula jurisdiction Municipal Corporation.

The name of Kalka is comes from the Kalika Maa the ruling goddess. In 1843 it was acquired as depot of shimla by British India, After that it became junction for the Delhi -Ambala-Kalka and junction of toy train or narrow gauge train i.e. Kalka-Shimla Railways. In 1903, Kalka town had population 7000+, was a market of turmeric and ginger, a Railway workshop. The Municipal committee of Kalka was created on 11 April 1933
