IIE Shimla has come into existence under the administration of Mata Bhakti Devi Welfare Society to perform welfare activities and to impart qualitative higher education especially professional education to the women student community.
After having N.O.C from the State Government on 9th December 2001 vide H.P. State Government Vide notification No EDN-A-Chha (7)6/99 Vol-ll at 19th December 2001, Recognition from N.C.T.E. Jaipur was received vide order No. F.NRC/NCTE/F-3/HP-59/2002-7638 dt September 13, 2002 for B.Ed. Course.
During the Academic Session 2002-2003, the very first batch of 100 female students has established at Longwood Shimla campus. The campus is moved to Hari Devi Ghanahatti a place about 15 km. away from center of thecity Shimla, where the management of the college built a spacious building with all most modern amenities.
Mata Bhakti Devi Welfare Society started during the year 2001 with multifarious objectives in the field of Education, Health, Environment Conservation and Rural upliftment. 13th December 2001, the Society was registered under Registration Act XXI, 1860 vide Registration No. 123/2001 dated.
Indian Institute of Education Shimla is located on Shimla - Mandi (N.H.) 88. The IIE Shimla is situated at Hari Devi about 15 km. from main Shimla town and about 1.5 km. from Ghanahatti Situated on secluded hillocks. The college campus is surrounded by lush green land under the shadow of pine trees the institute provides a panoramic view. The Hari Devi temple is located just adjoining to college campus.
Indian Institute of Education Shimla campus has a double floor building with excellent spacious, well-ventilated classrooms, various Labs, Library, Faculty room, Principal Office and Administrative Room. All classroom of the college is spread over about 500 sq. ft.
IIE Shimla has well equipped labs (Psychology Lab) with all most Modern equipments. The institute’s library has a collection about more than 4000 books in addition to various Encyclopedias. The college library subscribes to all leading newspapers, various Magazines and all-important Journals relating to Education. Entire library of the college is fully computerized. The College campus has a large playing field with outdoor games facility such as Volleyball, Basket Ball, Badminton, Kho-Kho and Kabbadi etc.
