Howly High School

Howly High School is the oldest school of the locality. Its foundation stone was laid on March 3, 1939. Since then it has been creating legacy in the development of literacy prosperity, and is moving towards horizon of knowledge day by day. Howly Higher Secondary High School has a glorious past and a flourishing present both in academic and non-academic sectors. Numerous students of this institution are possessing reputed chairs in the elite posts in Govt. of Assam and in Govt. of India.
With the goodwill and endeavor of a few youths, a general meeting had been conducted in March, 1938 under the presidency of Riyajuddin Sahab in Howly Minor School, and a resolution was passed to construct a high school at the locality in the same. Consequently in March 1939, Howly got a temple of higher education, where Basudev Bhuyan was worked as the founder headmaster. The men behind this noble construct were, to name a few, Kesab Ch. Nath, Dinanath Choudhury, Garjan Sarkar, Kesab Mahajan, Habibulla Munchi, Daraj Ali Sarkar, Jogesh Ch. Das, Dharmakanta Choudhury, Rajmohan Choudhury etc. whom are always remembered and acknowledge for their contribution towards the nation and community. In October 19, 1943 the Minor School was assimilated with the High school section, and people got a fully-fledged High School.
In 1996, Higher Secondary Section was added to provide a greater fervor to the stream of knowledge. Since then onwards Howly Higher Secondary High School has been flourished into a grand and leading institution that influences the other institutions of locality.
