Hojai is a city and a municipal board in Hojai district in the Indian state of Assam. It was formerly a part of the Nagaon district. On 15 August 2015, Hojai was named a new district of the state.GeographyHojai is located at. "Hojai" is one of the clans (Sengphongs) of Dimasa tribe, probably The city "Hojai" got its name from this clan. For the first time in 2016 assembly elections BJP has wrested this seat with the incumbent MLA being Shiladitya Dev.
