Harriet Benson Memorial Hospital

The hospital currently has 40 beds – in general and maternity wards, in semi-private and private and in palliative care. We have an operation theatre, a lab, a pharmacy and x-ray, ecg and ultrasound facilities. Spiritual ministries are also conducted. The hospital provides service regardless of race, caste, creed or religion. The hospital has a mandate to serve the poor in the name of Jesus Christ and charges minimal costs for medical care so that the poor can afford it. Further, charity is provided to the poorest of the poor so that none are refused treatment. The Community Health and Development Department (CHDP) assists communities to develop their infrastructure and help the community members become more self-sufficient.

The hospital has a Staff of 55 people, dedicated to working for the poor and marginalized, many of them living far from their home states and families.

History

Harriet Benson Memorial Hospital was founded in the early years of the 20th century by a Christian missionary named Elizabeth Mercy Bacon. It is one of 20 hospitals and 30 community development programs which make up the Emmanuel Hospital Association, New Delhi.
