Halisahar is a town and a municipality under Bijpur/ Naihati police stations of Barrackpore subdivision. in North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is a part of the area covered by Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority.It was formerly known as Kumarhatta.GeographyWith a total area of 8.29sqkm Halisahar forms a small part of the state of West Bengal.
