Originally established in Rawalpindi (now in Pakistan), as D.A.V. College, it was re-established at Ambala Cantt after partition in 1948 as G.M.N. College by a great visionary Shri Jaswant Rai in the memory of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, G.M.N. College today has emerged as one of the premier institutions in the region.
The college aims at holistic development of the students by providing a liberal, secular education by making them aware of the pride and of the varied heritage of the nation.
The Motto of Gandhi Memorial National College is "Come to Learn; Go to Serve"
