Garg Maternity & Surgical Hospital

Garg Maternity and Surgical Hospital is a well-established 20 bedded hospital and was the first Obstetric & Gynaecological centre in the region.

It was started by Dr (Maj) S.K.Garg, M.D. (O&G) after retiring from the Indian Army in 1984. He has been joined by his son, Dr Aditya Garg and daughter in law, Dr Suman Garg, who have returned from UK to serve their country.


Dr (Maj) S K Garg did his MBBS, DGO and MD(O&G) from AFMC ( Pune ) and served in the Indian Army for 17 years prior to retirement and starting private practice. He is the most experienced and seniormost Gynaecologist in the region, renowned for his clinical acumen and surgical skills. He has dealt with a huge number of challenging cases in his career.

Dr Aditya Garg did his MBBS from Rohtak and did his O&G Speciality training MRCOG (London) from UK. He completed recognized superspeciality training in Fetomaternal Medicine from Manchester, UK CCST (England). He worked as a consultant in Brighton & Sussex University Teaching Hospital and started their Department of Fetal Medicine. He continues to remain on the GMC Specialist Register in the UK (Formal qualification needed to work as a consultant in UK). During his 13 year career in the UK, he has worked in various leading centres in the country and has authored a number of publications and presentations in various international journals and meetings. He is one of the few qualified Fetomaternal medicine experts in India.

Dr Suman Garg did her MD (O&G) from KGMC, Lucknow, one of the premier medical institute in India. She subsequently worked in the UK for 5 years and did MRCOG (London) and DFFP (Formal Diploma in sexual health and family planning). She has done a prestigious fellowship in Gynae Oncology at St Mary’s Hospital, Manchester. She has also worked as a Consultant Gynaecologist in the local Civil Hospital and Rotary charitable and Cancer Hospital in Ambala Cantt. Her areas of special interest include Infertility, Gynae cancers and High risk pregnancy.

We at Garg Hospital, are a team of three Specialist Obstetricians & Gynaecologists providing round the clock care for patients along with a team of approximately 18 paramedical staff. Facilities:
Our centre is the one and only private hospital in Ambala which has been empanelled for Gynaecology by ECHS ( Ex Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme). We also provide services to BPL card holders (RSBY Scheme).
AVS Ultrasound centre is the first PNDT approved genetic centre in the region with the latest high end Aloka Alpha 7 3D Machine. We run a fetal and maternal medicine centre with facilities for
• Level 2 & 3 scans
• Fetal ECHO
• Neurosonogram (detailed USS of fetal Brain)
• Counseling and management of fetal abnormalities
• Invasive tests like CVS, Amniocentesis and fetal blood samples for chromosomal and genetic tests.
• Amnioreduction / Amnioinfusion, placement of fetal shunts and fetal blood transfusions.
• Fetal reduction in multiple pregnancy
• Colour Doppler studies and management of growth restriction.

Obstetrics: Our ultimate objective is to ensure safety of the mother and the baby whilst providing her the maximal chances of Normal Delivery. We aim to deliver this through providing advanced services like CTG, Epidural analgesia combined with our clinical excellence.
• Management of high risk pregnancies ( Diabetes, thyroid disease, raised BP, heart and kidney problems, thrombophilias and other complex disorders)
• Management of fetal and maternal infections like chickenpox, toxoplasma, Rubella.
• Recurrent miscarriage clinic
• Preconceptional counselling for women with known medical complications.
• Epidural analgesia (Painless delivery)
• Complex caesarean sections (Placenta praevia, multiple previous operations)
• Instrumental deliveries with forceps and Ventouse.
• CTG: The only centre with facility for continuous fetal heart rate monitoring in labour.
• Cervical cerclage for preventing premature delivery

Infertility:
• Laparoscopic procedures for cysts, fibroids, endometriosis and adhesions to improve fertility
• Operative and Diagnostic Hysteroscopy with tubal cannulation, septal resections, adhesiolysis and removal of submucus fibroids and polyps.
• Tubal recanalization surgery for blocked tubes.
• IUI with latest techniques of sperm preparation. Banked donor semen available.
• Follicle monitoring & detailed infertility scans with Dopplers.

Gynaecology:
• All major and minor Operations like Hysterectomy (Open, laparoscopy and vaginal); Removal of fibroids and ovarian cysts.
• Laparoscopic/ Medical treatment of ectopic pregnancy available.
• One stop Gynae cancer clinic with TVS, Colposcopy, Out patient Hysteroscopy and PAP Smears / LLETZ for diagnosis and early management of Gynae cancers.
• TCRE: resection of lining of uterus for heavy menstrual bleeding as an alternate to hysterectomy.
• Recognised MTP centre for first and second trimester termination.
• Updated Family Planning counselling with modern methods available.
Urogynaecology:
• Management of prolapse and vaginal hysterectomy including Non Descent.
• Management of female urinary Incontinence (medical and TVT )
• Prolapse operations like sacrospinous fixation, Sacrocolpopexy etc.
