Click to EnlargeFootwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI) was established by the Government of India on persistent demand of the Footwear Industry to have an 'Apex Organization' as a 'One Stop Solution Provider' for the various problems of the sector. FDDI has been declared "Institution of National Importance" virture of Footwear Design and Development Institute Act 2017 by Parliament.

Spurred by the surge in demand for trained human resources to homogenize the country's interests with the rest of the world, the Noida campus of FDDI in Uttar Pradesh was set up in the year 1986. The other campuses are located at Fursatganj, Chennai, Kolkata, Rohtak, Chhindwara, Jodhpur & Guna.

FDDI has witnessed manifold growth of the Institute with 3200 students and faculty/staff members in our eight campuses across India. All the campuses are spread over sprawling area of 15-20 acres with lush green lawns, fully wi-fi campuses, state-of-the-art labs, world class auditoriums, library, modern lecture theatres, workshops with modern machinery etc.

At these campuses, FDDI conducts wide range of professional programmes in the area of Footwear Design, Technology, Management, Retail Management, Fashion Merchandising, Visual Merchandizing, Marketing, Creative Designing & CAD/CAM and Leather Goods & Accessories Design etc. thus, providing trained high-class professional, managers, fashion designers, technologists to keep pace with the growing demand of the Industry. FDDI is among the first Institute in the world to get prestigious ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 certification.

The professional programmes are conducted by FDDI's School of Footwear Design, Production & Management (SFDPM), School of Retail Management (SRM), School of Leather Goods and Accessories Design (SLGAD), School of Fashion Design (SFD) and School of Business Management (SBM).

Two more new campuses of the FDDI are also being established at Patna and Hyderabad so that the mismatch of the trained manpower requirement in this sector is balanced and critical support to the Industry in the area of Design, Technology and Management is provided through which industries can become more competitive, in terms of Design, Cost, Quality and Delivery Time, in the global market.

FDDI has been awarded ‘No 1 Institute in Retail Management’ by CSR magazine and has also achieved the top position in the “All India Best B- School Survey- 2013” conducted by the leading ‘Business & Management Chronicle’ magazine in its September 2013 issue.

The Institute’s strong alliance with leading international institutions/ organizations such as LDT, Nagold-Germany, ARS Sutoria-Italy, University of Pirmasens and PFI-Germany etc. ensures international level of training in the campus and extends the scope of Student/Faculty exchange programme in order to equip them to meet the challenges of globalisation.

FDDI has been awarded with FICCI LeapVault Skills Champions of India award by Shri Dr. Pallam Raju, Hon’ble Minister of Human Resources & Development on 4th September, 2013 during the 6th Global Skills Summit 2013 held at FICCI Auditorium, New Delhi which is in recognition of the extraordinary contribution to skills development of the youth of India.

FDDI has a distinct presence not only in higher education, but, also in the spheres of Industrial Consultancy, Research and Development and Training of Active Industry Professionals. The various professional programmes offered at FDDI have been designed keeping in mind the conceptual grounding as well as the practical know-how requirements of the Industry. The programme structure is designed by Industry experts as well as renowned academicians to allow the proper infusion of theoretical rigour as well as the application part of it. The curriculum is updated under the guidance of Professionals from relevant Industry/Academia. The syllabi followed are based on the needs of the Industry.
