Eye Surgeon Dr Shibu Varkey

Dr. Shibu Varkey MS, DO, DNB, FRCS. Regional medical director at Vasan Eyecare ,Trichy,India has achieved the rare distinction of having performed one hundred thousand cataract surgeries in the span of 22 years that he has been in the field of ophthalmology.



The surgical services of Dr. Varkey has extended to almost all regions of the state of Tamil Nadu and also cities like Mumbai and Delhi where he visits on a need basis for surgeries,

The undeserved villages of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh have received the benefits of his skills from the annual visits that he makes there for performing free surgeries.



Dr. Varkey also drew international attention by performing the permanent eye color change surgery which brings him clients from all over the world. Some of the celebrities who visited him for the eye color change surgery have been from the world of fashion, rock n roll and Hollywood.



From his humble roots in the Andaman Islands in the bay of Bengal, this doctor has traveled the hard untrodden path to reach where he is today.

As an active Rotarian he spearheaded the social and community eye care activities in his local branch.
