Eagles' Ministry

EAGLES, a Christian youth ministry is an initiative of brothers of saint John Arul Ashram and youths, formed in order to develop a real Christian life among the youth, by creating a real spiritual environment for youth. It is called EAGLES because in the Bible the eagle symbolizes Jesus Christ, and Isaiah the prophet says that “those who trust in the Lord are like Eagles.” So we want to fly high like eagles, we want to see far like eagles, we want to become eagles by our trust in God. This is accompanied and spiritually directed by the brothers of Saint John, Arul Ashram.
The Eagles ministries divide in to four ministries (Music, Prayer, Charity and Media) and the members have to work in one of the ministries. Thus it is their concrete engagement in mission that makes them member of eagles. It is not a youth group though it is for the youth and most them are youth, because it integrates the family of the youth and there are married people as well as children in the group.
Spiritual environment:
Some of the activities we do regularly to create and develop a real spiritual environment is,
• Common prayer
• Ongoing faith formation
• Active spiritual fellowship
• Mission exposure
• Developing leadership skills.
• Help one another to discover their spiritual gifts, and make them grow.
Personal engagement;
This spiritual environment is in order to help the youth to make a real personnel engagement towards Christ and his Church. And the youth who enters in our team engage us personally to follow these four pillars of Eagles.
• Personal prayer
• Regular Bible Reading (Personal listening to the word of God)
• Practicing a meaningful Sacramental life
• Personal and pro-active engagement in his or her parish.
What do we do now?
• We often meet in our families as a tem to pray with the families who receive us.
• Once in a week we go to the streets of Pondicherry to share the love of God by distributing food and meet, interact and maintain \godly relationship with those who live in the streets. We call it "charity ministry"
• Regularly the music team of Eagles meets to practice song to create a real catholic music band, which will animate prayers and stage performances. It is called "music ministry"
• The "prayer ministry" team organize praise and worship for youth each first Sunday in one of the parishes of Pondicherry, all are invited.
• The "Media ministry" team tries to develop the talents of the youth to create TV programs to diffuse gospel in TV.
• We have sometimes retreats and formation sessions.
• We help the parish youth groups to develop and organize activities for youth by themselves.
What is our desire?
• To become a real missionary Team in the service of the Church of Pondicherry, especially for the young Christians.
• A real cooperation with the parish priests, to help them for their pastoral mission, also to go from one parish to another to animate prayer meetings and some other needs if…
• We want to help the youths, families and childrens to know Christ and the church, to pray and to live a Christian life.
• For that we want to animate retreats, summer camps, formation sessions ….
• To provide Education guidance and Tuition for the childrens living in streets who were visited regularly by “Charity Ministry”.

And all these with the brothers of saint John Arul Ashram and the priests of pondicherry archdiocese.
