District Bar Association Khairpur, Sindh Pakistan

District Bar Association Khairpur is one of the oldest Bars in Pakistan. In fact it had established prior to the birth of Pakistan. This historical bar has produced large number of judicial, political and social personalities two Chief Ministers of Sindh i.e. Syed Qaim Ali Shah (Present C.M) and Syed Ghous Ali Shah have remained Members of Khairpur Bar, they practiced as a lawyer in courts of Khairpur.

The Members of Khairpur Bar during different periods have been elevated as Honorable Judges of High Court Sindh, one of the members of this Bar namely Honorable Mr. Abdul Hameed Dogar has been Chief Justice of Pakistan. Mr. Ali Aslam Jaffery, Syed Zawar Hussain Jaffery, Syed Ghous Ali Shah, Mr. Habib-ur-Rehman Shah, Mr. Naimatullah Phulpoto and some other figures of bar have remained as Judges of High Court, who served judiciary by their honesty, hard labour and due diligence.

This Bar has shared very good advocates/lawyers to legal fraternity, presently it has membership of near about 1300 advocates. It is the third largest Bar of Sindh. A large number of youngster advocates have recently stepped in legal profession they have become members of the Bar. We are hopeful that they have build the future of judiciary and great legal, political and social personalities will emerge from amongst them. The District Bar Association Khairpur has Managing Committee consisting 13 members, out of which 6 are the office bearers and 7 are members of Managing Committee.

District Khairpur is usually treated as heart land of Sindh Province which has very long and old history. District Khairpur was previously an independent state ruled by Talpur families upto 1963 when merger agreement was executed by the rulers of Khairpur State with the Government of Pakistan. The District is basically agricultural and lacks industrial developments. Recently large number of gas deposits have been found in various areas of Khairpur, which cater the needs of energy to the country.
