Digambarrao Bindu arts & commerce college, Bhokar Dist. Nanded is run by the parent institution late Digambarrao Bindu Smarak Samiti, Bhokar Dist. Nanded has a glorious history of its own. It was founded as an Under Graduate College offering arts & commerce courses. It was actually opened in June 1989. From June 1989 it was affiliated to the then Marathwada University Aurangabad till 1994, and when Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded came into existence, since then it is affiliated to S.R.T.M.U. Nanded.

The Senior Freedom Fighter and social worker Shri. Bhujangrao Patil Kinhalkar founded it. His intention was to make the area as far as possible educationally self-contained. Nanded District in Marathwada region has been declared as educationally backward. Bhokar, one of the Talukas of the district is located on the boundaries of Maharashtra & Andhra Pradesh, it is most backward part of the district. Most of the population in the area belong to tribal & backward communities like SC/ST’s who do not have much access even to primary education, then higher education in such a scenario was distant matter.

Therefore, being a visionary person, he laid the objective of Digambarrao Bindu arts & Commerce College to offer a sound, secular and moral education both for boys & girls. He always emphasized on girl’s education. The key to the whole character of the college, therefore, is to produce tolerant, humane & magnanimous people.

Hence, from its opening to still today Digambarrao Bindu Arts & Commerce College prepared number of students to meet the challenges of the millennium and acquires better career opportunities both in private, government & public sectors. The credit of it goes directly to the disciplined administration, hard working teaching & non-teaching staff, healthy support in the form of text, reference books, journals, subject periodicals, magazines from the central library.

Digambarrao Bindu Arts & Commerce College has also maintained a dress code not only for students but for employees also. It helps to improve uniformity in diversity.

Apart from the regular curricular activities since its opening it has always attempted to foster and maintain a healthy atmosphere of academic and social discipline and sound education through organizing number of co-curricular, extra-curricular and extension activities to develop students in all round way. Like the students our teaching & Non-teaching staff in their corporate life participates in number of activities to update and upgrade themselves.

As a result of its continuous efforts and smooth conduct Digambarrao Bindu Arts & Commerce College has been accredited and assessed by NAAC in January-2004.

We are well aware of the fact that the crying need of the day is to teach the young not only academic knowledge and feed them with reams of information but more importantly to make them efficient and good citizens in the service of the society.

We are in the new millennium and at a rare moment of history. This is a choice point. To meet the demands of new world Digambarrao Bindu Arts & Commerce College is attempting continuously to make it a better place for everyone concerned.

In order to propagate and disseminate the ideas of lord Buddha, Gandhi and Nehru our college established these three studies centre with the financial assistance of UGC during XI plan period. No. of activities are being organized throughout the year to acquaint the students with their thinking and work. As a part of it Three National Seminars are organized on the thoughts of Buddha Gandhi & Nehru in the year 2010-2011, 2011-2012 & 2012-2013 respectively. The college therefore desires to seek the approval to continue these activities undertaken in future also. This would not be possible without the kind financial assistance of UGC.
