DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY,A.M.U.,ALIGARH

Tracing the history we can go back to 1878 when the Chemistry teaching was of high quality and it was given the status of a department in 1911 under the chairmanship of Prof. H. B. Duncliffe. It was the time when M.Sc. teaching also started. The foundation of the present building was laid down in 1926 and since then it is serving students not only from India but overseas too. The University as a whole and Department of Chemistry in particular has a pivotal position in the area of its leadership role in teachers training for research and has provided support by way of access to its seminar library, research journals, analytical facilities, instrumentation support and guidance
Chemistry seminar library is our pride possession having precious collection of books and periodicals. The users of library include faculty members of the University, scientists from outside the University, students of B.Sc. and M.Sc., research scholars etc.
