The town of Pithoragarh(Shor Valley) is the gateway to the Himalayan ranges and the passage to the pilgrims who go to Kailash and Lake Mansarovar in the Himalayas. In the district, which goes by the same name, Pithoragarh is perched in the valleys created by the snow capped ranges of the Himalayas.
It is a district of Kumaon Region in the state of Uttarakhand (India). The shor valley has been created by the innermost Shiwalik hill ranges, inner and middle Himalayan range and the Tibetan plateau.
