കേരളത്തിലെ പാലക്കാട് ജില്ലയിൽ ചിറ്റൂർ പുഴയുടെ കരയിൽ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ഒരു ചെറിയ പട്ടണമാണ് ചിറ്റൂർ‍. പാലക്കാട് പട്ടണത്തിൽ നിന്നും ഏകദേശം 15 കിലോമീറ്റർ തെക്ക് ഭാഗത്തായാണ് ചിറ്റൂർ. ഇവിടെ ധാരാളം നെൽ‌പ്പാടങ്ങളും തെങ്ങിൻ തോപ്പുകളുമുണ്ട്. ആലത്തൂരാണ് ലോക്‌സഭാമണ്ഡലം. ഗവണ്മെന്റ് ആർട്ട്സ് ആന്റ് സയൻസ് കോളേജാണ് ഇവിടുത്തെ പ്രധാന കലാലയം. ചിറ്റൂരിന്റെ സൗന്ദര്യത്തേക്കുറിച്ച മുൻ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് കളക്ടറായിരുന്ന വില്ല്യം ലോഗൻ പരാമർശിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ചിറ്റൂർ ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ഉത്സവത്തിനോടനുബന്ധിച്ചുള്ള കൊങ്കൻ പട ചരിത്ര പ്രസിദ്ധമാണ്. ആണ്ടുതോറും കുംഭമാസത്തിലാണ് ഇവിടെ ഉത്സവം സംഘടിപ്പിക്കാറുള്ളത്.

Chittur is a town in Palakkad district of Kerala, South India and was once part of the Cochin state. The town consists of the famous Duurga temple, known as the Chittur Bhagavathi temple, which is under the Cochin Devaswom board. The municipality consists of Chittur, Tathamangalam, Kacherimedu, Anicode, Thekkegramam and Kadambidi. Chittur M.L.A is K.Achuthan of INC. Agriculture is the main occupation of the people. The town is home to Menon tharas which was the settlement of the Menon family. There are also many agraharams (settlement of Iyers) and Moothan tharas. Sokanashini is the nearest river. Music is the part of the life style of the people here. Kongan pada is the main celebration in Chittur and it is in the month of March. Sooranporu, Niramala and Ayyappan vilakku are also celebrated here. Others include Onam, Pongal, Vishu, Deepavali and Navarathri. At the time of Vishu vishu vela is also celebrated. There are music concerts in Chittur Kavu at the time of Navarathri and Konganpada. Thunchathu Ramanujan Ezhuthchan, the father of Malayalam language, is buried here and his tomb is situated in Thekkegramam, Chittur.
