Chidhambaram

Chidhambaram the word can be splitted into two as “Chid” (Knowledge) and Ambaram (with out limit). The Nataraja temple is dedicatedto Lord Shiva is the most important pilgrimage centre for Hindus. Among the five elements, this temple symbolizes the element of “space” and Shiva dances the rhythm of cosmic sound. The temple was originated in 6th century by the dynasty of Pallava and later it was renovated by the Cholas, Pandyas,Vijayanagara and Nayaka in the following centuries. There is a thousand pillared hall which is used in the festival time and a grand temple tank named “Shiva Ganga” for purification.
