ChandraNath Girls High School, Chhatak, Sunamganj

Chandranath Girls`High School was set up in 1857 by a Hindu Zamindar at Mondolibhog, Chhatak. At first it was an ME school. From the beginning it was governing by the enriched persons of this area. By the course of time in 1960 it was run as Junior Girls’ High School and patronized by a Founder named Dinendranath Purakayostho. In 1969 it was recognized as Chandranath Girls’ High School. At present it is only one Girls’ High School in Chhatak and Dowara bazar upazila. In 1984 it was under M.P.O . At present there are 1200 students and 32 teachers and employees. It plays a vital role for spreading women`s education in this area from the very beginning. Receiving education from this school many women are engaged in different govt. and non-govt. professions home and abroad. The school became runner up in national school debate organized by ‘brac’ and sponsored by A.T.N.bangla in 2012 and 2013. The result of S.S.C and J.S.C is satisfactory. The infrastructure of this school is increasing day by day by the coperation of managing committee and rich persons in this area. In 1995 vocational courses are added with the school. The result of S.S.C (Voc) is mentionable every year. I hope that the school will be more developed gradually in all concern.
