Balipara Foundation

Balipara Foundation, a not for profit NGO has been instituted with the mandate of "Facilitating and driving community level involvement and employment/income generation through social entrepreneurship in Naturenomics™initiatives that are economically self sustaining. Through this, Balipara Foundation will nurture interdependence between nature and economics.

Balipara Foundation was conceived by Globally Managed Services and River Journeys & Bungalows of India and is currently run by a board of Trustees and onsite professional managers. Balipara Foundation is also represented through members in an advisory capacity in all North Eastern states.

Balipara Foundation is based within an Organic Home Stay, "Wild Mahseer" located in Balipara Division of Adabari Tea Estate, District Sonitpur, Assam, India and is in the process of creating A Sustainability Park and a R&D Centre for the initiatives, as given in this website.

In addition, the Balipara Foundation has also entered into national and international collaborations and partnerships with experts across relevant sectors. For example, Morarka Organic for promoting Organic Cultivation, Gadhia Solar for Alternative Energy Solutions, Centre for Wildlife Studies for Wildlife Conservation, Keggs Farms for Poultry breeding and Xola Consulting Inc for analyzing the Eco and Adventure Tourism potential in the region. Balipara Foundation is also grateful for the support being received from the Government of Assam, Tata Global Beverages Ltd., World Wildlife Fund, IIT Guwahati, US India Business Council, Asia Society and Sanctuary Magazine.

Balipara Foundation along with its partner "Wild Mahseer" won the award for "Best NGO engaged in Sustainable Tourism" from leading Business Channel CNBC Awaaz in 2008. The entire area of Balipara Foundation / Wild Mahseer covering 22 acres has been certified "Organic" by OneCert Inc, an International Certifying Agency, and has also been awarded a Platinum Leaf NatureSecure certification for achieving a Carbon Negative status.
