Its geographical coordinates are 26° 52' 12" North, 78° 35' 51" East. Three rivers, Yamuna, Chambal and Utangan irrigate its land and separate from the states Madhya Pradesh and Rajsthan. It was founded in 1700 by Maharaja Mahendra Kalyan Singh of Bhadawar and was called Kalyanbah. Its name was later corrupted to Bah, which means flow of water. Bah is also the birthplace of Jitendra Tripathi 'Hemu', the Chairman of Mother Vision India Group. Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajapai is also from Bah Bateshwar. His father migrated from Bateshwar to Gwaliar.Places to watchBah is famous for Bateshwarnath Temple, which is only 7 km from Bah City. Along with the main temple there is a series of 108 temples of Lord Shiva on the riverbank of Yamuna. November local festival at Bateshwarnath attracts thousands of devotees from nearby areas and states . Nearby a Jain Temple is situated at Shauripur . Nowadays newly developed Chambal Safari is a must watch for nature lovers.The forts of Pinahat, Bateshwar and Parna are of archaeological importance but paid little attention.General informationBah is a Tehsil place comprising three blocks of Bah, Jaitpur and Pinahat. The main spoken language is Hindi and yjr main religion is Hindu, however Jain and Muslims also stay together in harmony. The people celebrate Diwali and Eid together and boast that no religious skirmishes have happened since the independence of India. The primary way of living is in agriculture and a lot of people drift to major cities like Delhi, Ahmedabad and others for their living. That's why there is direct connectivity by buses from these cities to Bah and now a newly developed railway station that also provides the direct connectivity from Bah to Agra and Etawah. It is also the educational hub for the nearby villages and also the marketplace for the nearby villages. This land used to be known for 'chambal-dacoits' in the past. It is situated in the Doab of the Chambal and the Yamuna rivers.
