Lord Ayyappa Temple at Shell Colony , Chembur Mumbai is The oldest Ayyappa Temple after the Holy Sabarimala Shrine in Kerala – the original abode of Sree Dharmasastha and as far as the Chaithanya (Devine Power) of the Lord is concerned.
It was in the year 1964, a group of Ayyappa devotees joined together in Shell Colony, Chembur and assumed a community form and started conducting the temple proceedings through a Balayam ( a small Modest Abode ) of Shree Dharamasastha.
Worship started with Pujas before a portrait of the Lord. Soon, this improvised hut of the Lord turned into a shrine, attracting a swelling number of devotees from all over Mumbai
The Pratishtha was installed in the month of Edavam on Punarthan Constellation by Tantirvarya , Tantri Visharad Bhramashree Analadi Vasudevan Namboothripad in accompanied by his son, Tantra Visharad Analadi Parameswaran Namboothripad
The glorious ceremony of the idol installation all of the deities of the Temple was enhance even more by the presence of the Panthalam Maharaja who was personally present at the Temple premises and was witness and gave all his holy blessings during the ceremony.
The highlight of the Panthalam Maharaja’s presence gave our temple an enhanced achievement of being only the Temple after the holy shrine of Ayyappa’s temple in Sabrimala, which was blessed by the Panthalam Maharaja’s presence during the Pratishitha ceremony
There is a saying in the devotee circles, that the spiritual power of our Tantrivaraya and Panthalam Maharaja were united forcefully and made such a wonderful effect that the power of Shree Dharmasastha, Sabrimala can be experienced here in our temple at Shell colony, Chembur, Mumbai
