About ASHRAE

ASHRAE, founded in 1894, is a global society advancing human well-being through sustainable technology for the built environment. The Society and its members focus on building systems, energy efficiency, indoor air quality, refrigeration and sustainability within the industry. Through research, standards writing, publishing and continuing education, ASHRAE shapes coming days built environment today. ASHRAE was formed as the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers by the merger in 1959 of American Society of Heating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHAE) founded in 1894 and The American Society of Refrigerating Engineers (ASRE) founded in 1904. The objects of the Branch are exclusively scientific and educational and include, but are not limited to:

the advancements of the sciences of heating, refrigerating and air conditioning engineering and related sciences;
the continuing education of the members and other interested persons in said sciences, through lectures, demonstrations and publications;
the rendition of career guidance to students of the sciences;
the encouragement of the scientific research.


About ASHRAE NITK

ASHRAE NITK Student chapter has been started under the sponsoring chapter ASHRAE Bangalore. Currently we are having 26 student members and one student branch adviser. The goals of this student chapter will be to make our campus more greener and sustainable place to live in . We are having around three GRIHA registered projects at our campus. Through projects and events we are aiming to contribute to the campus and create awareness among the students, about the importance of energy efficiency in buildings.Besides this we will be participating in ASHRAE organised student design competitions,projects, conferences etc. Ten students of our chapter has been sponsored by Bry-Air to participate at ACREX 2016 to be held in Mumbai.
